Letters to Jory

Inspired by love, Motivated by legacy

Letter #16

Dude, it’s seriously been a few months since I wrote you, totally not OK, I’ve been a little busy, but I’ve been spending a lot of time with you.

You came to California twice, you spent Christmas here and you had a blast, you had more gifts than anybody I’ve ever seen, you had a grand old time. We ate on the water, you hung out with Beck, uncle Elliott and aunt Jacque, you saw Uncle Hector, Uncle Jerry, and even Tio Lance.

You stole the show with Aunt Jolene, you told us you were knock knock jokes nonstop, we had good food, you ran, you were the center of attention. It was awesome.

You also saw dad‘s new place, you have your own room and you made sure everybody knew it.

Then you went back to Utah and it was really hard for me.

The hardest part for me is always leaving you.

But after a couple weeks I flew out there and I hung out with you and it was awesome, dinosaur museum, jumping gym, shopping, good food, LOTS of Valentino, and soccer all the time.

YOU STARTED BASEBALL LESSONS!

I’m not gonna lie that was one of my highlights for sure. Watching you swing the bat and hit the ball off the tee was just the most amazing thing ever.

You’re incredible at everything that you do.

You came to California again with mom and we hung out, we got to see some stuff, we went to downtown Disney, we even got into the park but no rides were open. You got a bubble sword, you got toys, and hearing you laugh, watching your curly hair wave in the wind and seeing you smile always captivates me completely.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I love you.

My world revolves around you.

There are so many things that I do behind the scenes that you might not see it now but it’s always for you. I want your life to be full of joy and happiness.

You complete me in every way.

Your mom talked about her career progressing and potentially moving back to California one day, I know it’s a longshot and it’s far down the road but that makes me really happy, I think you are one of the most incredible human beings to ever walk this earth, I will always believe that you will be able to accomplish so much more and reach untapped potential‘s here in California.

You’re such a good eater, when you were a baby it was hard to get you to eat, and yeah you’re still really picky with what you eat, but you eat everything we put in front of you. You’re so strong, now when you tackle me it legitimately hurts but I’ll take the pain because you’re so worth it.

You barely let me cuddle you anymore, but when you are asleep I go in and just watch you rest, I run my hands through your hair, I kiss your forehead, your cheeks, I just lay there and I watch you.

You’re perfect.

I love you so much more than I can tell you, watching you grow is difficult because dad can’t have kids anymore, so you’re it, and I want to keep you young because I know once you grow up your personality will be a strong one and I will have to bribe and beg for hugs and kisses, but you’re growing up so strong and you’re such a good little boy.

You’re my best friend, now and forever.

I love you booger.

Always do good listening, always help your mom, always be kind.

-Dad
