Letters to Jory

Inspired by love, Motivated by legacy

Letter #14 Utah Summers

It’s been way too long since I wrote you last, I’m sorry.

I came to Utah and spent 8 days with you, the best 8 days of 2020.

You were crazy funny.

You have lots of attitude and your sass is unreal.

I absolutely love it. We stayed and Pop and Yami's and you hung out with Valentino a lot. He was so good to you and you followed him everywhere, you also were really quick to tattletale when he wasn’t in the mood to play. You kept calling him “naughty” but he’s not naughty, he’s just older than you.

I also experienced your unrelenting fearlessness at saying no to everything I asked.

It was a little heartbreaking sometimes and other times I wanted to put you in timeout, but your hugs, your chubby cheeks and your long insane hair was just too cute to send you away.

You have more energy than any 4-year old I’ve ever been around, it was insane.

You ran around and ran around and played all day, you had the craziest imagination and you told the wildest stories. You’re also one sweaty and stinky little boy, you smelled gnarly, but you were MY sweaty gnarly little boy... ...and that hair.

Oh my god that hair.

So long, so crazy, so curly, so out of this world. I played with it non-stop and you reminded me all the time that it was YOUR hair, not mine. Even at your sassy-est, you could not have been more perfect to me.

I love you to the moon and back, and I just couldn’t picture life without you.

You’re my everything Jory.

You always have been.

You always will be.

To the moon and back, and back again,

I love you, I love you, I love you.
