Letter #15 - The Birthday Boy

It’s been minute since I wrote you.
I’m sorry.

A lot of moving parts, a lot of distraction from giving you 1000% focus.

It won’t happen again.

Since your last letter, it was your birthday! I was in Utah with you that entire week, not only did you have a power rangers birthday party, but you were spoiled and you got so many toys and had an awesome pool party.

You also ate more cake than I have ever seen a kid eat.

There was no stopping you.

You look so big, you’re so funny and your sass and personality are so awesome to observe. I wouldn’t want to be anyone else daddy. You and mom moved to Orem, you’re closer to moms work and you love the pool and your own room you now have. You run that house like a boss and I love watching it.

You still don’t love listening and for some reason your favorite word is now “No!” but regardless you couldn’t be any more perfect to me.

I’ve gone with you to your swimming lessons and it’s the best thing to watch as you flirty/compliment your swim teacher when you don’t want to do certain things, it’s actually so funny.

You STILL won’t put your head underwater or even your face to blow bubbles. I’ve concluded you’re probably not going to be a professional swimmer and I still have a chance at making you a pro baseball player. :)

I’ve thought about you nonstop and lately our FaceTime convos have gotten shorter, but it’s also because you’re getting older and more excited about the new things in your life. New home, school, pool, your own room, you’re growing up and I hate it, but I love it. I miss the days you’d look at me and just reach out for me to hold you, but I love that you’re growing up and becoming your own person.

I wouldn’t want anything else for you.

I think about what life will be like for you these next 5 years as you develop your forming years and you grow into your personality and continue being the sponge in taking in everything about the world around you.

These are some crazy times, it’s a volatile world lately with the political, economic, and social issues happening, but when I think of the future generations and leader like you,

I’m hopeful.

I love you Jory.

You really are my best friend.

You’re all the matters to me and the only thing I’m focused on.

I’m sorry if I’ve ever dropped focused time and attention.

Nothing on this planet matters more than you, nothing ever has, nothing ever will.

I love you booger.

I’ll see you soon.

-Dad
